Our next event will be on Saturday 25th April at Hendre Lake, Hay Rake followed by a Bioblitz . Join us for either event or enjoy a full day participating in both.
Hay Rake 10.00 am - 12.00pm
For the Hay Raking we will meet at the western side of the lake to rake up all the cut grass from these 2 meadow sites to help the wildflowers. This is a very physical task so if you want a good muscle workout, skip the gym and join us instead ! An exercise session in the outdoors, helping the environment, with the birds singing around us, a great way to spend your morning.
The park ranger will cut the grass beforehand and we'll then use rakes, pitchforks and tarps to remove it all. These specific meadows are our cut and lift sites, we remove all the cut vegetation. This means that less enrichment will go back into the soil and so help stop so much grass growing and in time also encourage our native wildflowers to flourish

Meet at the western side of the lake. W3w ///yours.penny.occurs

We'll have a light walk around our beautiful Lake to find lots of wildlife and flowers with the aim to take photos of what we see and submit these recordings to the LERC Wales App.
Tom from Bumblebee Trust will be joining us too, always great to find out about the bumble and solitary bees that we have here at Hendre Lakes. A fantastic event for all the family to enjoy.
