Thank you to our volunteers for joining us at our August workday session. We were at Hendre Lake in the warm sunshine to cut back vegetation and overhanging trees from along a pathway near the War Memorial on 16th August.

We carefully used saws and loppers to cut back to the fence line where we removed parts of an old rylock fence and created a dead hedge in its place with all the branches that we cut. Not an easy job to do with all the thorns of the blackthorn and bramble but we gave it our all, as always.

The path is easier to walk through now and we've made a great start to the beginning of our planned work in managing this little wooded area at the north of the lake. There's a great variety of trees here like oak, spindle, blackthorn and ash. It has developed into a lovely little woods that we look forward to looking after.

The Oak tree that we planted earlier this year isn't looking too great so our Community Park Ranger brought along many gallons of water to try to help it. We will be keeping a close eye on the health of this tree over winter and spring.

Thanks again to all 13 of our volunteers, including two new faces. A great session at our beloved Hendre Lake
