Hendre Lake Open Day Sat 21st June 2025 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Wow, we had so much fun at our Open Day at Hendre Lake yesterday and we're very happy to have seen so many of you enjoying it too.

It was fantastic to see so many children outside in nature, having fun whilst learning all about the wonderful wildlife that we have here. From taking part in all of the arts & crafts, to the pollinator walks finding lots of bees, bugs and birds with Tom and the Rangers, and having many laughs with the Bee Game. It was a great day.

We hope the winners of the colouring- in competition are enjoying their prizes, a big thank you to WCR Space for kindly donating these. Thank you to everyone for supporting our volunteer group with the raffle, a big thank you to Cefn Mably Farm Park for the top prize and to Asda and Morrisons too.

This was our first event like this but we are very keen to make this an annual event. We couldn't have done it without the help and guidance of our Park Ranger Rhodri and all the other Rangers, a big thank you to all of you. We'd like to thank Sharon Magill - Artist for sharing her time and talent with us, there's now a lot of happy faces with their own cyanotype prints. Beautiful and unique artwork.

A special thank you to Tom from Bumblebee Conservation Trust for taking us on the pollinator walks, teaching us all about the bees. We were lucky we got to see some rare bees and rare bumblebees including the Brown Banded Carder Bee and a Long Horned Bee. The kids definitely loved this bug hunt!
