Our first event of 2026 was at our beautiful and sunny Hendre Lake on the 10th of January. We continued our work along the path behind the War Memorial after our morning Winter Walk.

21 volunteers got straight into action using shears, loppers and saws to cut back bramble, blackthorn and tree branches that have been encroaching and overhanging along the pathway. It has had a much needed cut back, making it safer for all visitors to walk and cycle along.

We also continued to remove the old fencing and replaced it with a dead hedge.

A dead hedge is made from cut vegetation and branches, it creates a natural looking fence whilst providing habitat for wildlife, from birds and little mammals to lots of insects.

Thank you all for your efforts on a glorious winters morning. And, I must say, we are looking fabulous in our new hi-vis vests with our CVST logo. We've nearly finished this stretch of pathway but still have some bramble to cut back next time.
