Litter Picking
Litter is an ever-growing issue in Cardiff & the local authority spends significant amounts each year on cleaning it up. A littered local environment has far-reaching negative environmental and community impacts .
Litter can be deadly for wild animals (and also our pets), from ingestion to entanglement. Single-use plastics are a major contributor to litter, and their persistence harms the natural environment. Soil and water contamination can damage entire ecosystems.
As well as being hazardous to wildlife litter can prevent people from using green space and is even associated
with higher rates of crime and anti-social behaviour.

A clean environment can create a sense of pride and encourage further positive actions in the area.
Litter- free green spaces create a positive impression for visitors and potential residents making our communities safer for everyone.

Cath Cobb Woods Litter Pick
with the Park Rangers Sat 10th August 2024
10.00am-12.00pm

12 volunteers braced the rain on Saturday morning to help look after our local Ancient Woodlands, Cath Cobb Woods.
We cut back bramble and vegetation that was encroaching along the paths and litter picked the area filling 20 bags with rubbish.
Unfortunately, the warmer weather and longer daylight has led to more littering!
