Pill du Farm Trowbridge St Mellons

History

The farmhouse has a rich history and is believed to date back to  16th - 17th century. Set in a  semi-rural location though modern housing developments are now very close .

Situated  at the bottom of  Hendre Road  leading from Trowbridge,  alongside Pil-du Reen. The farmhouse is a Grade II listed building  of particular architectural and/or historic interest . It is a good example of a  traditional farmhouse of that period and hence deserving of special protection .

Originally  consisting of farmhouse living area, barns  and  separate stable the ground floor it  appears to have been renovated early to mid 19th century  into a single occupancy unit. The white washed stone exterior, wood frame windows, and slate roof tiles give it a charming and rustic feel. Ventilation slits are visible on both levels improving airflow into the barns  whilst also providing natural light and security. The wooden beams, fireplace, and stone stairway add to the character the ground floor living area.
